NHL Center Ice on Dish Network For More Hockey Action

One thing that hockey fans across the nation enjoy is watching their game on satellite TV. While Direct TV and the Versus network can’t seem to get together, Dish Network is taking advantage of the void. Many are jumping over to a new satellite provider in order to watch the National Hockey League. But if you want even more rink action, then the NHL Center Ice is the way to enjoy nonstop action.
If you have not heard of the Center Ice package, here are a few of the important details. The out of market hockey package is currently carried on Dish Network channels 625 through 639. If you tune there normally, you won’t see much, unless they are offering a free preview which usually happens during two or three weeks during the season. But if you are willing to shell out around $170 bucks per season, you will be treated to an all you can watch smorgasbord of NHL action. Often there is a discount if you order the package before the start of the NHL season.
The package is similar to the NFL Sunday Ticket bundle, in that you can see almost every out of market game that is being played. That amounts to about 40 hockey games each week, so even if you live in a different area than your favorite team, you will usually be able to keep up on all of the action.
Many of the games are now also in high definition. While there is no guarantee of a certain number of HD games, you will be able to find plenty of action in hi-def. Access to games is dependent on the local carriers broadcast, so Dish Network doesn’t have full control of this issue.
If you want the NHL Center Ice bundle, you do have to subscribe to a regular Dish Network package first. Promotional deals are available to new satellite TV customers, so this may be an area worth investigating if you are looking to cut you pay television bill down a bit.
Also remember that there are some blackout restrictions with the hockey package. These usually have to do with national broadcasts carried on NBC, or on local carrier rights. Generally, you can still find the game with a regional sports carrier or on Versus. Another thing to remember is that the NHL League Pass package is available on many other pay TV carriers such as Comcast, Direct TV, and Time Warner cable.
In reviewing what we have discussed: Dish Network Package plus the NHL Center Ice addition will give you up to 40 hockey games per week. The NHL Center Ice package on Dish Network has lots of HD action!
