Stay on Top With Satellite TV

March 29th, 2009 |

A good television service is about having entertainment in your home, but it’s also about a lot more than that. These days, people rely on their television to keep them informed and up to date about the world around them, and they also look to television in general as a way to stay on top of the latest technologies and keep their home up to speed with the times. Of course, it is hard to do this with just a simple broadcast or even cable TV connection, with satellite TV today being the preeminent television provider that customers nationally and globally have singled out as the provider of choice, that allows them to stay on top of things in general.

Satellite is all about quality of service, and that is precisely what many people (most, you might say) find attractive about the service. In fact, customer satisfaction ratings have consistently put satellite television well above the competition (read: cable TV) for many years running now, leaving no doubt as to who the winner is in the now defunct argument over which is better, cable or satellite. The voting results are in, and they are resoundingly one-sided in satellite’s favor. There are really two broad reasons that have brought us to this state of affairs: one has to do with the fact that satellite TV affords people better customer service; the other has to do with the fact that the technological standards and the variety in programming on satellite cannot be rivaled by the competition.

Starting with the issue of customer service, it is really not that hard to understand why satellite is so far ahead of cable in this regard. Cable companies are, by and large, local or regional monopolies; it’s hard to find more than one cable company operating in any given place. This means that cable providers adopt the monopoly-mindset, with all the prejudices this implies for customers. They cease to have a reason to improve their customer service programs, since customers (at least those with cable) don’t have anyone else to turn to. Or don’t they? With satellite, these victimized customers have a safe haven to which they can run in search of better care. Since satellite providers have the entire world as their market, and have to compete with several other satellite providers for every individual customer, satellite providers just simply do a much, much better job in this department, and the proof of this is to be found in the very customer satisfaction ratings themselves, as mentioned earlier.

Moving on to the issue of standards and variety, satellite TV stands head-and-shoulders above cable. First of all, whereas many cable companies still haven’t upgraded to digital signals, you will be getting nothing but digital programming with your satellite connection. And then, whereas you might at best get a few dozen (if you’re lucky, that is) HD channels, with satellite you will get well over one hundred high def channels included in your service. And beyond these high definition channels, you will also have literally thousands of other channels to surf through, covering all possible areas of interest, from general entertainment, to sports, to the news, to documentaries, and so on and so forth. You will be able to stay on top of the world-both from a cultural as well as a professional standpoint-thanks to the richness in the variety of programming options available to you.
